My fellow Citizen Patriots, I am honored to be reaching out to you as a fellow member of the Preparedness Nation.
Wait. Is he talking to me? Preparedness nation? And what is a Citizen Patriot?
Do you believe in the wisdom of preparedness? Do you believe it’s a good idea to take steps to protect yourself and your loved ones and do the things necessary to relegate a dangerous and potentially disastrous situation to nothing more than an inconvenience? In short, are you a prepper?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you (like me) are a member of Preparedness Nation. In the world of sports, team’s fan bases often refer to themselves as a Nation. For instance, if you’re a fan of the University of Georgia Bulldogs you will most likely identify as a member of the DAWG Nation. Are you an Oakland Raiders fan? Then you’re a member of Raider Nation, and so it goes.
Much like as in these rabid fan bases, citizenship in any Nation signifies that your beliefs constitute a way of life.
CITIZENSHIP – the character of an individual viewed as a member of society; behavior in terms of the duties and obligations (to yourself, loved ones or group), and functions of a citizen (to the larger society as a whole)
When considered from this point of view, Preparedness Nation is absolutely real and if you are someone who is taking steps every day to give you and your loved ones the very best chance to weather any storm that may come, then you are my fellow citizen.
With me so far? Good, but what’s a Citizen Patriot? Let’s break it down by definition.
CITIZEN – a civilian, as distinguished from a soldier, police officer, etc.
PATRIOT – a person who loves, supports, and defends his or her country (Nation) and its interests with devotion and regards himself or herself as a defender of individual rights
In other words, a Citizen Patriot is a regular person who demonstrates a devotion to the ideals of duty, responsibility and individual freedom through their actions within the context of personal preparedness.
I am confident that if you are here now, by this (or any) definition, you should absolutely count yourself among the ranks of Preparedness Nation (#PreparednessNation)….or Prepper Nation (#PrepperNation)….or Practical Nation (#PracticalNation or #PracTacNation). Feel free to pick the one that you personally most closely identify with, but whichever you choose, know that you belong. As for me, I know I am among my people, I have found my tribe, and I will stand and be counted.
In our opinion, taking steps to prepare your family for an emergency is one of the most patriotic things you can do. It is a statement declaring that you are an aware and independent citizen that understands the world around you and the responsibilities you bear in it. Independence equals freedom and freedom is what this great country is all about.
Preparing gives you a feeling of independence knowing you are in better position to take care of yourself and your family. By preparing, you become part of the solution during a disaster by taking yourself out of the victim equation. By being prepared, you allow emergency responders to focus their attention on those in real need. Hopefully by having taken steps to prepare in advance, you will be able to positively impact the emergency situation by helping your neighbors or your greater community.
The reality of our world is bad things happen to good people every day and more often than not we are powerless to prevent them. None of us can know where disaster will strike next, but what we can do as rugged individuals is take steps right now to mitigate the impacts of the next disaster on our daily lives. Living a preparedness lifestyle as a member of Preparedness Nation, we believe you will find that you are happier, more knowledgeable and will develop a greater peace of mind. At the end of the day, at least in our view, that’s what preparedness and prepping is all about.
