The term “Black Sky” or “Black Sky Hazard” refers to an event that severely disrupts the normal functioning of our critical infrastructures. A Black Sky Hazard is a catastrophic event that severely disrupts the normal functioning of our critical infrastructures in multiple regions for long durations. Think electromagnetic pulse (EMP) or space weather in the form of a massive solar flare, for starters. Given the interconnected nature of today’s hyper-complex societies, a “BLACK SKY” event would “bring society to its knees” in very short order.
In this video, the posited question is what if there was no more oil? What would happen if the world ran out of oil? At that point, the real question would be how long the hyper-complex systems that make the ‘American way of life’ possible could hold together before the whole thing came spinning apart and we were facing an actual cascading collapse scenario…failure of the just in time delivery system, failure of the municipal water treatment plants, economic collapse due to a crashing stock market, depression due to job lay offs and business closures, failure of the electric grid due to a collapse of coal deliveries, disintegration of the mega farms due to a lack of fuel to run the large machinery and a halt in feed deliveries. I could go on.
You may not think about it much, but America’s aging infrastructure is what allows us to live the lifestyle we are so hopelessly addicted to here in the United States. Thinking about our national infrastructure is probably not high on your list of every day priorities, but there are people that take it very seriously. And they are concerned.
Have you ever wondered what might happen in the event a massive, earth directed solar flare were to erupt hurling a powerful coronal mass ejection (CME) at our home planet? Societal collapse? Apocalypse trigger? The end of the world as we know it?
I see this as the reality of our future in the long term and it may mean the end of the world as we know it, but this does not have to mean the actual end of the world. It will mean a new world though. This new reality can be brilliant, beautiful and amazingly rewarding. The more you understand what is happening around you now, the easier it will be for you to adjust the coming changes.
Food insecurity is an unnecessary reality in the United States. It gets worse when you just stop to think of all of the (depleting and non-renewable) natural resources like water and fossil fuels (oil) that are being used to grow, produce, harvest, ship and store all of this food that eventually ends up some landfill somewhere and morphs into a climate destroying methane bomb. From the family table to the global climate, food waste and food insecurity is a problem in America that I think deserves our attention.
I wanted to take a quick minute and offer a short review of a fantastic disaster preparedness product, the Luci Solar Light from MPOWERD. I was drawn to the Luci because it’s perfect for use as an alternate source of light in an emergency situation, but it is the versatility …
